Oxygene  was music on an altogether grander scale, an attempt to bridge the gap between contemporary classical music and the progressive pop sensibilities which animated Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon, released three years earlier, as well as the grandiose new-operatic statements made by the likes of The Who and Procol Harum.
